Mason's Top 5 Favorite Bands

I listen to a lot of different bands but I mainly listen to metal bands. I listen to metal bands because they have very inspirational and relative lyrics. Some of the lyrics saved my life in so many ways possible.
1. Bring Me The Horizon

I like this band the most because of their lyrics. They saved my life from almost attempting suicide.

2. Black Veil Brides

I like this band also because of their one song Knives and Pens. It's about Andy Biersack going through bullying in school for who he is. I can relate to that song because all my life I get bullied for what I am and how I act and also how I approach things in life.

3.Sleeping With Sirens

This band is a very inspirational band because of the one song Roger Rabbit what I got out of this song is it is saying that not everyone is going to like you, especially if you are just like the rest of the world, but you have to push that aside and find yourself and be different for anyone to love you. You have to grow up and try different things and find different people. And if you don't say what needs to be said no one will trust you and you will end up being hurt. Be confident and don't hide in the background and blend in. You have to move yourself. And BE YOU.

4. Falling in Reverse

5. Pierce The Veil

Never Say Never By The Fray.

This song is one of those special songs that can be interpreted many different ways according to what the listener is going through in his or her life. I love their new cd and this is, without a doubt, my favorite song from it. A lot of the posts before mine have made sense and I can definitely see where they got their ideas from but I have a different take on this song. I think it's about a guy and a girl who were in a relationship together, rather than being just friends, and things ended between them. Because they are both so scared of getting hurt again, they don't talk about getting back together or how they are still in love with one another. They fall in and out of love with each other as they try to patch up their relationship. The guy believes that they can make it and that they will be together again one day so he tells her to "Never say never." He tries to reassure her and tell her not to be afraid because he loves her and will always be there for her, especially when times are rough. He does all he can to convince her that they belong together but ultimately, it's up to her. His heart is in her hands so he tells her to not let him go. Don't break his heart and make him whole once again.

I am going through something extremely similar to the situation I see when I listen to this song. My girlfriend and I were together for over four years and she was the love of my life. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her and I thought that she wanted all the same things I did. But somewhere along the road, she got scared and ended things between us. My heart has been broken for the past seven months and I want nothing more than to hold her in my arms again. I tell her that if she chose me, she wouldn't need to be afraid because, "I will be your guardian when all is crumbling. I'll steady your hand."

You Found Me By The Fray.

To me this song means so much. I struggled with depression and anxiety for 6 years, from ages 11 till 17 . I lost many friends, situations didn't work out, brutal teasing, and I felt very alone. I still have days where my anxiety or sad thoughts will come, but it's much easier for me to use my faith in God to combat it. The overall song is about that anger and envy feelings you get when God finally comes to help, but you wonder why it too so many years. Never realing the struggles you go through end up making your faith get stronger. Just like what Jesus did and took all the sins for us on the cross. Like the line "Where the West was all but won." When Jesus died, his hands on the cross represent his saving us and how far the East is from the West, his scarred hands. The girl in the 2nd verse represents the loved ones lost or gone from your life during this time. The ones who got you and could have helped you through this. It's actually a hope filled song, wrapped up in the feelings of anger at wanting God's grace and mercy sooner. Because the sinner was FOUND. He's just human and wanted it sooner.

How To Save A Life By The Fray.

In my opinion, it's about mentoring a kid, maybe in the Big Brother/Sister program or maybe a niece or nephew or your own kid who is on drugs or having problems and doesn't know how to make the right decision. In this situation, you know there's a problem, but this kid maybe doesn't, and he will defend his actions to the death because it's the first real decision he's ever made on his own.

It's a tough situation, because if you cross the line and come across as too controlling, they will want to stay their course even more, but if you aren't stern enough, they won't respect you. The lines

"Lay down a list of what is wrong

The things you've told him all along

And pray to God he hears you"

show the very real and tragic fact that honestly, you cannot do anything about it even though you can see him making the wrong choice and you know how he is going to hurt himself. All you can do is pray that he realises his own mistakes, that he has listened to the things you've been saying to him his whole life to prepare him for this moment.

"As he begins to raise his voice

You lower yours and grant him one last choice

Drive until you lose the road

Or break with the ones you've followed"

Things are not going as planned, and the speaker is afraid of what will happen, but he knows it's absolutely crucial that he keep his cool or else drive the kid further into his problems. After this, the kid will make his own choice ("He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same")

The next line, "And you'll begin to wonder why you came", further alludes to this futility.
this song is about a father and his son and his son is doing drugs
"or break with the ones you've followed" that means that hes followed the drugs addicts and hes gonna break with them if he doesnt change his ways
if u read more of the lyrics it will all make sense.
In my perspective there are alot of meanings to this song. but these are some things that I think its about heres one more thing I think this song means.
This song is about two people breaking up and its altogether a mess. its like...they want to be together but they have too many differences that they cant get past. "i wouldve stayed up with you all night...had i known how to save a life" reminds me of the fact that, even when you love someone so much, you really cant change who they are. and, obviously, this song shows that he cant save her from whats happening so the relationship just cant go on anymore.

thats in general.

but if you look real deep into the lyrics its pretty clear that there has to be some sort of drug incident involved. it was obviously written by the lead singer who is a recovered drug addict.

When Im Gone by 3 Doors Down.

I do agree with the suicide idea, but in my eyes, it has more to do with depression in general. Let me explain.

"There's another world inside of me", "secrets in this life that I can't hide"
Both of these seem to be about the actual depression.

There are various parts where light is referenced, or, more so, a lack of. His statement that he might be blind indicates that, yes, he is perhaps suicidal. But he still wants to find the light, and he's hoping that he's just blind.

The chorus seems to be directed at the person closest to him, likely a lover ("hold me"). He acknowledges that he may not be here much longer ("when I'm gone") and that if he does kill himself, it's "only for your good", that's why he'll "give up everything". But he doesn't seem to really want to kill himself, because he asks of whomever the chorus is directed at to "hold me when I'm scared", being when he is considering suicide.

I fully agree that the second verse, primarily "when your education x-ray cannot see under my skin" is about a therapist of some sort. Statistically, most people who are suffering with depression will not say anything to anybody, especially not someone they do not trust.

He repeats "maybe I'm just blind", seemingly as courage to move forward with his life.

This is just what I have interpreted based on my life experiences.

Bring Me The Horizon Go To Hell For Heaven's Sake

this song is who his band family and everyone felt when Oli had a drug addiction and that's way it say no one wants to see you witch means no one wanted to see Oli im burning down every bridge we made means who was ruining his relationship with everyone he knows. This is what i think the song is about.

Bring Me The Horizon Shadow Moses

I think this song is a song to those who've been bullied, who were that one person out of the group, the victim. It says basically, that we've finally given up, ' Can you tell from the look in our eyes? We're going nowhere. ' We're the hopeless, breathing in the world of the ignorant, rude, and stubborn. That is what I think the song is about.
