The first two verse's seem to be about giving up. Suffocating even. Feeling empty inside but still alive somehow.
Then it seems that he tried calling it quits and he couldn't do it or something stopped him.
After realizing he has more to do, he decided to keep on going and not quit no matter how hard life gets.
